The Bucks lost last night, for the third time this season, to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Their three losses have been to Cleveland, Boston and the Thunder, teams that would be considered in the upper echelon of the NBA. While the Bucks look to have improved from last year they are still clearly not near the level of those other teams.
While the Bucks have a superstar in Giannis they do not have the talent around him to truly compete with these teams. This can be seen in the record of the team as they are 4-3 even though Giannis has had the best start to the season of any player. Despite having Malcom Brogdon and Kris Middleton, who are good players, they just don’t have the talent to compete with the top teams in the league.
The Bucks will hope that Jabari Parker’s return will improve their team more, but looking into the future they will need Thon Maker to develop more, and will need to make some moves in either free agency or some trades. Giannis needs to be surrounded by more talent if the team plans on competing for a championship in the near future.
